Kerrier District Council
Camborne and Redruth have a long mining and industrial history; however, traffic is the predominant cause of air pollution in the Kerrier District.
Air pollution monitoring began in 2001 and currently there is an extensive, ongoing programme of continuous and diffusion tube monitoring. Pollution hotspots have been highlighted in the areas surrounding Wesley Street, Camborne and Penryn Street, Redruth.
Kerrier District Council declared an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) for the whole of the CPR regeneration area in December 2005. The CPR regeneration area was chosen as the AQMA extent so that air quality is considered a priority in the CPR redevelopment plan (AQMA boundary).
