North Cornwall District Council

Air quality has been monitored throughout Bodmin since 2003. Pollution hotspots have been identified along the Bodmin inner bypass, in particular along the Dennison Road and Higher Bore Street. A continuous monitor is situated at the eastern end of Dennison Road that records concentrations of traffic-related nitrogen dioxide. Diffusion tubes are located throughout Bodmin that record hotspot, background and baseline concentrations of nitrogen dioxide that are useful in monitoring any change in air quality.

Bodmin declared an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) in 2008 as a result of exceedances of the Governments NAQS objectives. The AQMA covers the Bodmin Town Centre (view AQMA Boundary) and will ensure any future developments will not have a negative impact on air quality or public health.
